MEDIUM ■ 4 hours ■ 9km ■ 850m ascent

Start Rhyd-Ddu, grid ref SH567527 Terrain Footpath, forest tracks then steep grass and scree

This is the most elegant but also longest approach to the mountain, and is best combined with a descent to Beddgelert. From the start in Rhyd-Ddu, take care to stay on the footpath and off private land until you reach the edge of Beddgelert Forest. Beyond the forest is the meeting of many paths above Bwlch-y-Ddwy-elor. The route continues over Moel Lefn and Moel yr Ogof and then up the steep north-west flank of Hebog.
