With the constraints removed regarding who the organisers could invite to the event as it did not carry FIM status, Neil Crosswaite made the decision to mix age and experienced riders, with some new young fresh blood from both Europe and Great Britain. The four experienced riders would be the undisputed world number one Toni Bou joined by his fierce rival Adam Raga, fellow Spanish rider Jeroni Fajardo and Great Britain’s undisputed number one James Dabill, who would be making his world debut with his new Gas Gas team. The fresh new young blood would be made up of three riders, all under twenty years of age, to include Repsol Honda team rider Jamie Busto and his friend and rival Miquel Gelabert, joined by the 2016 FIM T2 Trials World Champion from nearby Barnsley Jack Price.
