FINAL

-

The final would be fought out over the eight hazards in the stadium, with the ones used in the qualifying ridden in the reverse direction. Once Toni gained the advantage in the second hazard he looked strong and confident, and by the third, he looked to be heading for another victory as he opened up a small advantage over his ever close rival Raga. When he became the only rider to be feet-up in the fourth hazard recording a clean passage the writing was already on the wall, he looked so dominant.

When you have a rider cleaning seven out the eight sections on offer in the final — ending the night sixteen marks ahead of Raga — you start to understand the domination of the motorcycling superstar, although Adam’s score could have been slightly better if he had not chosen to play to the crowd. This resulted in a five mark penalty on the waterfall which formed the final hazard winding its way up into the crowd.

The battle between Fajardo and Cabestany for the final place on the podium was eclipsed by the battle between Bou and Raga, but it went to the very final hazard. The final step on the podium was decided by the timed race over the chosen parts of the course used in the qualifying, and it was a very happy Fajardo who posted the fastest time to give Vertigo its first ever podium in the X-Trial World Championship.
