Last year’s tournament saw a fascinating duel between Henrik Stenson and Phil Mickelson, with the Swede carding a final-round 63 to finish 20-under-par, beating Tiger Woods’ record 19-under-par total at St Andrews in 2000.
Stenson became the fourth man over 40 to win the Open in the last six years – following Darren Clarke, Ernie Els, and Phil Mickelson.
