BIT ABOUT JANE? She’s so much more than the stereotypical baddie and is an irresistible enigma to play. Jane was trained by the West, infiltrated a cell and then defected, so she has a lot of political opinions, having lived on both sides. But, actually, she’s motivated by love. She’s also like a chess player because she’s always four moves ahead of her opponents; they can never quite figure her out. HOW DOES SHE GET INVOLVED IN THE ACTION? I have some great fight scenes where Jane’s going around like Lara Croft, with a machine gun in her hand. But then there are scenes when she’s pleading for her life. The producers love you to do your own stunts on Strike Back – they must have a great insurance package! All the other actors in the show were getting involved so I had to suck it up. My legs were purple with bruises by the end of the shoot, but

MILITARY BOOT CAMP? I’d given birth to my second child so I arrived in Jordan with my straw hat and sunscreen on, and found myself in a slight state of shock because everyone else knew how to fire guns! Then the rest of the cast all went to the gym while the military advisor gave me some post-natal exercises and ab crunches to work through in my hotel room.
