VILLECHAIZ­E’S STORY

Born in France in 1943, Hervé Villechaiz­e stood just 3ft 11in tall due to a form of dwarfism. In 1964, He moved to the usa and began acting, getting his big break starring opposite christophe­r lee as scaramanga’s manservant nick nack in 1974 bond movie The Man with the Golden Gun.

He followed that with his biggest tv role as tattoo in Fantasy Island, which ran from 1977 to 1984. But although villechaiz­e stole the show with his catchphras­e, ‘the Plane! The Plane!’ He was fired in 1983 after demanding the same salary as his co-star ricardo montalbán.

Twice married, he was a notorious womaniser (bond star roger moore claimed he was a sex maniac), and, as work dried up, he became depressed due to money concerns and health issues. Villechaiz­e made several suicide attempts and, in september 1993, a few days after his interviews with gervasi, he shot himself at his hollywood home at the age of 50.
