Sonia plans to leave Walford – and Tina

ife hasn’t been much fun lately for poor old Sonia, who’s not that into girlfriend Tina any more and is also feeling the strain of having to look after Sylvie. So when she gets a chance to move away from Walford, she’s over the moon. Her plan is to leave – alone – and start a new life elsewhere.

Dot can see that Sonia is under a lot of strain and urges her to put herself and Bex first for once. However, when Sonia asks Ian if Bex can have the day off so she can spend it with her, she gets a snappy response. Jane later confesses to Son that things between her and Ian are difficult, which explains his grouchiness.

Just as Sonia is feeling the weight of the world on her

Lshoulders, she gets a call to say she’s been offered a new job away from the Square. It’s just the tonic she needs and she excitedly tells Jane she intends to take the position, but doesn’t want Tina to go with her.

Then she wonders if her leaving would be good for her teenage daughter. She confides in Stacey, who suggests that Bex could move in with her and Martin.

Finally, things appear to be going Sonia’s way. All she has to do now is break the news to Tina.

Sonia begins by revealing that she’s had a job offer and that it means leaving Walford. Tina reacts by suggesting that she and Sylvie will come along, too, and Sonia doesn’t quite know how to break the news.

Things get even trickier when Martin accuses Sonia of being selfish for even considering leaving Bex behind.

Will Sonia take the job and relish her freedom? Or will she once again feel duty bound to stay and look after everybody else?
