Courting Christine

-

he nightmare continues for Les and Pam Coker, who are in court this week, praying the judge will lock up the thugs who killed their grandson Paul and throw away the key. Thank goodness they have a job where looking miserable isn’t frowned upon.

Pam’s at breaking point and isn’t sure she wants to attend the hearing, but Les is determined to go and look the culprits in the eye. He’s not afraid and plans to confront them.

The Cokers’ relationship continues to crack with the strain of it all, and Pam reminds Les of her ultimatum – that he should allow Christine to return and help them both heal. She also stresses that if they don’t take drastic action, their marriage is over.

Les can’t quite believe his wife’s words, as Pam had

Tpreviously made it perfectly clear that she didn’t want to see or hear from Christine ever again. At the time, he tried desperately to explain that dressing as a woman had helped him to cope with their son Lawrie’s death, but

Pam didn’t want to know.

Clearly, she hasn’t forgotten what Les said about Christine and hopes that, by calling on his alter ego, he can open up. Les has reacted in a typically buttoned-up male way to Paul’s death, but does Pam really imagine that she and Christine will be sitting down over tea and petits fours for girlie chats? And what about the fact that Christine is so much more glamorous than she is? Rather than warring over how to grieve, they might end up fighting over stockings and lipsticks – might it be a can of worms that Pam regrets opening?

Linda takes a brief break from meddling in Lee’s life and notices Les looking very upset.

She follows him, and when he’s struck by heart pain and unable to escape, they sit down and talk about Paul’s death.

Pam, meanwhile, pours her heart out to Claudette and struggles to keep a brave face on things.

Will Christine reappear and come to the Cokers’ rescue?
