Song for Marion

Prepare for tears with this tender tale

-

BBC2 10.30pm - 12m’t

A warm-hearted comedy-drama about love and grief, this tearjerker stars screen icons Terence Stamp and Vanessa Redgrave as an elderly couple. They’re glorious together – as the grumpy Arthur and his outgoing, terminally-ill wife Marion, whose involvement in the local choir drives the story. Christopher Eccleston as their son and Gemma Arterton as the cheery choirmaster bring depth, while all the musical numbers add colour. If you don’t blub at least twice you have a heart of stone.

Dir: Paul Andrew Williams 2012, PG, 90min
