Daliso Chaponda

Daliso, 37, who was born in
Malawi, entered his first open mic night while he was studying at university in
Montreal. The comic, who now lives in Manchester, had everyone in stitches during his audition with a rib-tickling routine that combined his African roots with his experiences of living in Britain. Amanda says: ‘self-deprecating, brilliant. It was laugh after laugh!’ Daliso says: ‘When Amanda pressed the golden buzzer it was nuts! It was the last thing I expected, so I didn’t actually react properly for around an hour; I was just overwhelmed. People have been so supportive. I’m walking down the street and people yell out ‘good luck’. My next performance will be even funnier – prepare to be surprised!’ Buzzed by Amanda
