lucy Wors­ley is al­ways full of in­fec­tious en­thu­si­asm and this self-con­fessed Jane Austen su­per­fan is fizzing with ex­cite­ment as she ex­plores the places where the au­thor lived and their in­flu­ence on her work. Af­ter vis­it­ing the site of Austen’s birth­place in Hamp­shire, where she first got a taste for writ­ing, the his­to­rian looks at her time in Bath and her hol­i­days in Lyme Regis. She also vis­its stately homes owned by Austen’s wealth­ier rel­a­tives in Warwickshire and Kent, which in­spired the likes of pride and prej­u­dice, and there’s also a poignant look at her fi­nal days in Winch­ester. With this year the 200th an­niver­say of Austen’s death, aged just 41, this is a must-watch for any Janeite.
