Eva proposes to Aidan in the pub – and he accepts. But where does that leave his mistress, Maria? Aidan is completely shocked and lost for words for quite some time
The look on Aidan Connor’s face is a joy to behold when Eva pops the question in The Rovers in front of their friends, including his bit on the side, Maria. Does he spare Maria’s feelings and say ‘no’ or be a big wuss and tell Eva what she wants to hear? Why, it’s the latter, of course!
‘Because Eva has asked him so publicly, Aidan can’t come clean,’ reveals Shayne Ward, who plays the cheating businessman. ‘So, more than anything, it’s a panic answer – which will not go down well with Maria.’
Eva decides to propose following her chat with Johnny last week – who suggested that, as she’s desperate to marry his son, she takes matters into her own hands. With the help of Leanne, Jenny, Michelle and Kate, she arranges a Mexican-themed engagement party in the Bistro (random) and, when her boyfriend goes AWOL, she looks for him in the pub.
The reason Aidan’s a no-show is because he’s snogging Maria in the men’s toilets. Oh, the romance! Let’s hope she’s got a peg on her nose. As he emerges, an oblivious Eva pounces, along with a trio of sombrero-clad guitarists.
‘He’s completely shocked and lost for words for quite some time,’ Shayne tells us.
There are cheers all round – well, except from Maria – as Aidan agrees to make Eva his missus and the ‘happy’ couple head to the Bistro for a big fiesta.
Making his excuses, Aidan slips out and explains to Maria that he loves both her and Eva, and begs her not to end their affair.
But will the crimper agree or take the opportunity to spoil Eva’s party? It’s not looking good for Aidan when she turns up at the bash…
Maria later confides in David that she has told Aidan to decide which woman he wants. When she and Aidan then meet up in the ginnel, he promises to dump Eva. What do you reckon – more chance of Norris taking up street dance? Maria’s thrilled, but as she and Aidan play tonsil tennis, they’re secretly spotted by Adam.
The snidey Scot takes a photo of the pair, then anonymously sends the pic to a horrified Aidan. Is the love rat about to be blackmailed?
