Paul Hollywood’s Big Continentalroad Trip
motoring / 9.00pm / BBC2
‘The french don’t do flashy cars’, says
Paul Hollywood, bowling along in a boxy Peugeot 205 GTI. But they do do revolutionary cars, as the finale of his laddishly likeable series makes clear. He’s already demo-ed the Citroen DS, launched in 1955 with suspension so unique it later saved the life of President De Gaulle. And he’s taken a spin in the Aixam Crossline Evo, a 1hp car – yes, one horse power – and a top speed of 28mph. France is also the country that gave us the Michelin guide, and the Michelin-starred restaurant. So Paul’s two worlds – food and cars – finally collide.
