made when everyone in Hollywood was seeing a shrink, now, Voyager is an ugly-duckling tale of a timid, bullied woman finding her strong, true self after a bout of psychiatric therapy. Bette Davis is plausible as the wallflower Charlotte Vale, but really comes into her own when Charlotte swaps dowdy gear for designer threads and sets off on an ‘and this is me’ holiday to Brazil, where suave love interest Paul Henreid awaits.
