Michael Caine and Jude Law are great in this remake of Caine’s 1972 hit with Laurence Olivier. It’s a sleek thriller – Caine is on first-class form, while Law gives sterling support and Harold Pinter’s script is very amusing. With Caine playing an ageing thriller writer who plays a deadly game with his wife’s actor lover Law, it’s virtually a two-hander, although Pinter himself can be seen at one point on the TV.
