He reaches for a knife as he struggles to accept Rebecca’s pregnancy
It must be so exhausting being Robron. While most couples bicker about whose turn it is to put the bins out, they always have much bigger issues to deal with – like Robert getting Rebecca pregnant. It’s all too much for Aaron this week, who buys drugs from his old prison pal and self harms behind Robert’s back.
And it’s not just Rebecca’s pregnancy that’s a sore point – Aaron also finds out that Robert has a secret stash of cash.
‘Robert has got money from an investment with Lawrence, but he didn’t tell Aaron about it,’ says Danny Miller, who plays Aaron. ‘They were running around after Ross and taking risks because Aaron thought Robert was skint.’ In a bid to show Aaron that he loves him more than moolah, Robert throws a briefcase full of notes into the fire. Aaron rescues it and the pair talk, promising there will be no more lies. How many times have we heard that?
All is fine and dandy again, until they see Rebecca at the roadside as they’re on their way to the bank.
‘Rebecca’s car has broken down on her way to her scan,’ explains Danny. ‘Robert drives on, but
Aaron tells him to stop and tries to fix it. He can’t sort it, so he suggests that Robert drives her to hospital.’
Aaron walks back to the village alone, but beneath his brave front, he’s heartbroken about Rebecca carrying Robert’s baby. And, in a bid to ease the pain, he calls his former cell mate, Ethan, and asks for some spice – the drug he took when he was in prison.
Ethan shows up at Mill
Cottage while Robert is out – and, to Aaron’s horror, he brings prison thug Jason with him.
‘Aaron doesn’t know what Jason is thinking,’ says Danny. ‘Is he going to trash the place? Or batter Aaron? He feels really intimidated.’
Over at the hospital, Robert discovers Rebecca is having a boy, and it’s clear he’s warming to the idea of fatherhood when he asks for a scan photo. Back in the village, meanwhile, Aaron bins the drugs. Instead, he pulls out a knife and self harms.
As Robert realises what his husband has done, can the couple work through their issues or has their rocky relationship finally reached the end of the road?
