I’ll See You in My Dreams
This gentle comedy-drama’s a delight sky premiere 6.10pm - 8.00pm
Blythe Danner gets a long overdue chance to shine as a seventysomething California widow, a former singer and teacher who pulls herself out of a dull rut after she strikes up a platonic friendship with her pool cleaner (Martin Starr) and a romance with silver fox Sam Elliott. The tempo is mellow, but Danner gives her character a lived-in richness and the script steers clear of sentimentality, making this a shrewdly sensitive portrait of old age.
