As the leaves start to fall, the team sees crab spiders that camouflage themselves to snare prey, and investigates how wildlife stocks up on food to survive winter.
‘We look at hedgehogs; one was underweight, but he’d have been fine because it was so mild and they gain weight very quickly,’ says Chris. ‘We also see how compost heaps provide a vast amount of food for wildlife and how worms aerate the soil. Everything from
beetles and birds to fox cubs rely on them.’
