‘We look at hedgehogs; one was underweight, but he’d have been fine because it was so mild and they gain weight very quickly,’ says Chris. ‘We also see how compost heaps provide a vast amount of food for wildlife and how worms aerate the soil. Everything from

beetles and birds to fox cubs rely on them.’
