As the leaves start to fall, the team sees crab spi­ders that cam­ou­flage them­selves to snare prey, and in­ves­ti­gates how wildlife stocks up on food to sur­vive win­ter.

‘We look at hedge­hogs; one was un­der­weight, but he’d have been fine be­cause it was so mild and they gain weight very quickly,’ says Chris. ‘We also see how com­post heaps pro­vide a vast amount of food for wildlife and how worms aer­ate the soil. Every­thing from
