following on from last year’s Victorian Bakers, it’s the turn of four modern-day confectioners to step back in time and get hands-on experience of their craft in three different eras. Like its predecessor, it’s a fun and informative watch, but it definitely won’t leave you salivating over the sweet treats. Beginning tonight in Tudor times, the confectioners must prepare an ‘aristocratic sugar banquet’ where many of the delights on offer had a hidden bonus – coriander comfits helped to ease digestion, candied eryngo boosted libido and crystallised roses were a cure for gonorrhoea! Think we’ll stick to Rolos, thanks!
