A knowledge of the works of Jane Austen isn’t needed to enjoy this gentle comedy of manners set in modern-day California. It follows the members of a literary discussion group – Maria Bello, Emily Blunt, Kathy Baker, Maggie Grace, Amy Brenneman and token male Hugh Dancy – who are working through Austen’s works and discovering that her ideas on relationships are reflected in their own love lives. It’s a great ensemble cast, although Blunt steals the show as an unhappily married teacher contemplating an affair with one of her students.
