Did you research the mythology when preparing for your roles? SHALOM: It’s useful to have a general knowledge about all the different versions of the Arthurian legends and myths, because Tom and Frank have been so smart in the way they’ve put it all together. But there is a certain moment where you have to leave them at the door when you get to set, and find your own understanding of the world. DEVON: I didn’t want to take anyone else’s interpretation,

so I just worked extremely hard with my sword training, archery and horse-riding. I wanted people to believe that I could be someone of that time, that I could fight how I needed to fight, and talk how I needed to in order to get out of situations.

How did you perfect your swordfighting and horse-riding skills for the shoot?

DEVON: We had an incredible fight coach, Maurice Lee, and the great thing

is that

Mystery: Igraine fights for what she believes in

Katherine and I learnt that from the ground up. We were given swords and daggers and stuff to take home to learn how to fight. It just became second nature. SHALOM: The horse-riding teachers were amazing, but I was so nervous up there because of the fact that you have to get on top of this incredible animal, which has a mind of its own, and then be expected to speak as well, while thinking that you’re going to die because this horse could just take off… It never happened because they are so well-trained but that was probably the toughest thing I had to learn!
