Adam stuns Gary as he solves the puzzle of Rick’s disappearance

-

The walls are closing in on Gary, as canny Adam fronts up to the furniture seller and accuses him outright of murdering loan shark Rick Neelan. Boom!

The Taggart of the cobbles is bang on the money. He’s had his suspicions about Gary ever since the Underworld roof collapse, and recent conversations with Rick’s ex, Laura, together with the fact that Rick seems to have disappeared off the face of the planet, have made him realise that something fishy is going on. Sidling up to Laura once again this week, Adam has more reason to suspect foul play as the blonde reveals how Gary threatened her to stay away from Weatherfield and point-blank refuses to call Rick, even though the pair are supposedly in touch.

Checking in with Imran, he shares his concerns with his fellow solicitor – who lost sister Rana in the factory disaster. Explaining that he has traced Rick’s maintenance payments to Laura back to Gary, he muses that Rick could be dead. Then he approaches Gary and alleges that he bumped off the evil loan shark.

Gary dismisses Adam’s ‘wild’ allegation, but deep down, he’s rattled. Anxiety turns to panic when he later learns that Brian is off to Beacon Woods – where he murdered Rick in self-defence and buried his body – to go digging for Roman coins.

Desperate not to have anyone sniffing round there, he persuades Brian that it’s a waste of time, then heads out to the woodland to move Rick’s body. But when Brian spots him loading a shovel into his car, the Kabin owner thinks Gary has lied to get the artefacts for himself, and follows him, with Bernie in tow.

Is it game over?
