Jenny CONFESSES!

Some detective work from Bethany forces her to admit to Carla how she and Daisy acquired the Rovers…

-

There was always more chance of Ken Barlow becoming one of the Dreamboys than there was of Jenny and Daisy keeping the truth about their purchase of the Rovers under wraps.

This week, it’s game over for the wily women when Bethany does some digging after discovering Daisy is mysteriously minted.

Bethany’s cogs start turning when she sees her nemesis climb out of Tim’s cab, laden with shopping bags. As Bethany comments that she must’ve spent a fortune, Daisy snaps that she got her garms for peanuts at charity shops in swanky Alderley Edge.

But then Bethany overhears Jenny having a pop at her colleague for her overt spending. And when Tim lets slip that he picked up Daisy from Manchester, Bethany realises Daisy was lying and plots to get to the bottom of her wealth.

‘Because Bethany’s got her suspicions, she tells Daisy they need to become friends and stop all the bitchiness,’ reveals actor Lucy Fallon.

‘Daisy then challenges Bethany by saying, “Well, you and Daniel come for dinner with me and Ryan.”’

The meal is arranged for the next day, and as she ‘helps’ with the cooking, Bethany deliberately burns an apple pie, forcing Daisy to nip out for a new one. With the coast clear, she then rifles through drawers and cupboards, and is baffled to come across Stephen Reid’s journal.

Lucy adds, ‘Bethany thinks, “Why has Daisy got that?” As she goes through it, she sees all these passwords and starts piecing things together.

‘She knows this journal has gone missing, and everybody has been saying that the key to finding Carla’s money is in that journal.’

Bethany decides to expose Daisy during the dinner, but things don’t go to plan. It’s not a complete disaster, though, because Ryan reports back to his aunt, Carla. And when Jenny and Daisy then have another set-to about the latter’s spending, Carla confronts Jenny, who crumples and admits that she and her stepdaughter stole the money that serial killer Stephen swiped from Underworld shortly before his death.

The shamefaced landlady insists she had every intention of paying it back. But will Carla be prepared to forgive and forget?
