ART FEYNMAN

Blast Off Through The Wicker 8/10

UNCUT - - New Albums - Sun-soaked afro-psych from cosmic Californian PIerS marTIn

Fans of Ariel Pink, Sinkane and mild hallucinogens would do well to seek out this eye-opening, vibes-heavy debut by shamanic newcomer Feynman. At times, it is like opening a time capsule from 1982 to find a tape of Arthur Russell zoning out in Addis Ababa: with the powerful opening trio of “Eternity In Pictures”, “Slow Down” and “Can’t Stand It”, Feynman joins the dots between kosmische and King Tubby, expressing his anxiety over outward-bound grooves and lilting, twisting melody, delivered with casual grace.
