DAVE ROSSER

Afghan Whigs guitarist (1966-2017)

-

Guitarist Dave Rosser, who has died from colon cancer, was a longtime friend of Greg Dulli’s and his bandmate for more than 10 years. Prior to joining a revived lineup of Afghan Whigs for 2014’s Do To The Beast, Rosser had played alongside Dulli in The Gutter Twins and The Twilight Singers. The Missouri native returned to the Whigs for this year’s In Spades, though his illness prevented him from touring. Last December, Dulli and the band organised two benefit gigs in LA and New Orleans, Rosser’s adopted home, to help pay his medical bills. Those who joined them onstage included Mark Lanegan, Josh Homme, Duff McKagan and Moby. Aside from his work with Dulli, Rosser also featured on albums by Lanegan, Ani DiFranco, Joseph Arthur, Tim Heidecker and Marc Broussard.
