Directed by Young while recording Colorado, his first album with Crazy Horse in seven years, this 92-minute film chronicles the joys and frustrations of studio life in candid fashion. Alternately tense and claustrophobic, warm and humorous, as an insight into old-school record-making it’s as ‘real’ as you’ll ever get. Sucking on oxygen tanks owing to the mountain altitude, the Horse resemble characters from Last Of The Summer Wine and Young’s as crusty and cantankerous as hell – but it all adds to the ripe and rickety charm.
