Gospel and soul singer (1931–2019)

Singer/bassist George Chambers and his siblings Joe, Lester and Willie honed their vocal harmonies at Baptist church in Mississippi, prior to relocating to California in the early ’50s. The Chambers Brothers became one of LA’S premier

psychedelic soul acts, scoring their biggest hit with 1968’s “Time Has Come Today”. When the group split in 1975, George returned to his gospel roots.
