BEVERLY WATKINS

Blues guitarist (1939–2019)

Beverly ‘Guitar’ Watkins was a local legend in Atlanta, Georgia, where she’d begun with Piano Red & The Meter-tones in the late ’50s. When the band split in 1965, Watkins, who also worked with BB King and James Brown, brought her hard-rocking blues style to The Ink Spots and others. She finally recorded a debut LP, Back In Business, in 1999.
