Gemma D’Souza introduces issue 4 of Unforgettable Travel Magazine: Food and wine.

Issue 4. Food & Wine.

Picture this. A warm summers evening, your skin is glowing with a freshly-caught tan. The smell of seabass cooking on an open grill. In the background, a combination of friendly laughs and the shaking of ice cubes, ready to be added to a fresh mint-infused mojito or a negroni, garnished with fresh orange peel.

The beauty of the above is that it could be anywhere. That sounds like a typical evening in my house in England (anywhere over 15 degrees Celsius), but it could also be a coastal retreat in Italy, a lively bar in Greece, or a romantic getaway in Thailand.

As cliché as it is, there is so much more to travel than just the destination. The people you meet, the drinks you share, and the food you eat are, arguably, just as important as the place you visit. The whole experience of dining and wining together – whether it’s with your loved ones and new friends you’ve just met – is why so many of us travel.

We all have a story about a particular meal we had during our travels. For me, these are usually more obscure food experiences – like having eggs cooked for me on hot volcanic rock atop a mountain in Bali. Or venturing into the ocean to personally pick the live crab I wanted to eat on Christmas day in Kep, Cambodia.

When it comes to wine, things are a little more hazy. More often than not, there is a direct correlation between the volume of the group and the number of glasses of wines consumed.

Whether it’s a vineyard in the outback of Australia, the lush green valleys of Tuscany, or an exclusive winery in South Africa, wine (and other beverages) also plays a monumental role in travel.

With this in mind, we have dedicated issue 4 of Unforgettable Travel Magazine to food and wine. In this issue, we delve into the flavours of Morocco, Singapore, Malaysia, and Spain. We showcase some of the best food and drink experiences in Croatia – with Istria being titled a gastronomic gem in Europe.

A good wine compliments a dinner. We have strived for the same in this issue, as we have included a selection of features and editorial pieces focusing on destinations with a great pallet, including a feature piece about Chile and Argentina.

As always, all of the destinations in our magazine can be booked, and although we do feature sample itineraries, all of our trips are completely tailor-made and personalised to you. For any enquiries, please email us at info@unforgettabletravel.com

But for now, pour yourself a glass of your favourite drink (my go-to is an elderflower G&T), sit back, and enjoy this tantalising issue.
