Variety’s the spice of life at Yuck indie night
Hayes FM presenter Hughie Dixon reviews the live band scene
YUCK Indie night at The Crown and Treaty on Friday has, as usual, a great selection for you to move your body to.
Furs and Masks are a lively bunch with attitude and style, while second on the bill Elephant have a sampled garage-esque feel against a guitar based backdrop. Check out ‘War of The Girls’ on YouTube. It’s free entry into the Crown and Treaty before 10pm and just £5 after.
Hertfordshire four piece indie rockers Cara Cara play The Alley Cat, in Denmark Street, on Saturday.
Their unique brand of psychedelic, echo laden darkened ballads have a deep, lucid and atmospheric air akin to that of Sigur Rós, with distant vocal sounds in a similar vein to how Fleet Foxes use reverberation.
However, their sound is as English as it gets.
Little Grim share the bill with Cara Cara.
Their well arranged indie pop songs are filled with riffs, off beats and have that danceability factor in bucket loads.
Two other acts, Rolo Wigwam and Tom Saunders, make this a magical night in one of London’s more happening venues.
