Uxbridge celebrates with The Queen

Borough community comes together to celebrate The Queen’s 90th year

-

CHILDREN from Bourne Primary celebrated the Queen’s 90th birthday with a concert.

Each class focused on a decade from the Queen’s reign and prepared an item from that era.

There were dance routines, such as the twist, as well as songs from the Spice Girls and Coldplay.

The children dressed in fashions from their chosen decade – there were rockers from the 1950s and mods from the 1960s, along with characters from 1980s films such as Wayne’s World and Fame.

The children thought it was great to dress up and a wonderful way to celebrate The Queen’s long reign.

CHILDREN in the paediatric wards at Hillingdon Hospital prepared for the Queen’s official birthday with a day of arts and crafts.

To mark the occasion, the Peter Pan ward was decorated with bunting and the children were given union flags to wave. The day was a chance for the children to show off their artistic and creative skills by making crowns, colourful royal masks and decorating cakes. The children made their own birthday cards, which will now be sent to Buckingham Palace. Afternoon tea was also provided, with a selection of cakes, biscuits and soft drinks. Pat McGee, play specialist at Hillingdon Hospital, said: “As this is such a historic occasion, I wanted to make sure the children had the chance to join the rest of the nation in wishing The Queen a happy birthday.”
