Hitting the notes with talented singer

Hayes FM presenter Hughie Dixon reviews the live band scene

-

ANEW singersongwriter-composer going by the name of Chase Emery-Davis is in town. A native New Yorker now residing in Uxbridge, studying at Brunel University and singing in French, among other lingoes that are under his belt or up his sleeve.

I can say with confident, genuine and welcome invigoration that Chase is everything you do not expect.

His semi-operatic baritone depths could deceive you into thinking you are hearing a seasoned veteran vocalist approaching the 40 something age mark, but this rare talent is barely pushing 21.

For a brief moment during the masterpiece that is ‘Ma Belle Ville De Paris’ (@ www.chase-emerydavis.com ) his voice reaches a seemingly more age appropriate tenor range, then surpasses any expectation by effortlessly gliding into an exquisite faultless falsetto.

This transatlantic balladeer crosses over rather nicely into the pop/soul/R&B genres also.

So, after spending a year, yes that’s correct, recording and mastering his latest EP (in English) at JBJ Studios in Uxbridge, his next public performance will be on October 4 at the Freedom Cafe Soho, 60-66 Wardour St, London W1F 0TA. It is around this time that the EP goes public.

Put it in your diary for now and remember to bring some friends to impress.

Incidentally, I urge any aspiring local musical talent to have a look around www.jbjstudio.co.uk as I’ve heard many a good review of late from countless local artists and bands about their high standards of recording and reasonable rates. £20 an hour all in? Bargain!
