Under starters orders for fun run

IF you enjoy running, having fun and want to do it all for a good cause then this year’s Hillingdon Hospital Fun Run and Family Day is for you. There’s still a week left to enter the event which takes place on Sunday September 11.

THIS year’s Harefield Hospital Fun Run & Family Day is extra special for two reasons.

The event is celebratin­g 35 years and also coincides with the last day of Organ Donation Week.

Comedian Eric Morecambe fired the starting pistol at the first fun run in 1981 and the event has gone from strength h to strength since then.

All proceeds from the run on September 11 will go towards Harefield Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit extension, which will allow for six new state-of-the-art rooms – that’s equivalent to 250 more patients being treated each year.

Last year’s Fun Run raised £54,000 for the Intensive Care Unit and the charity team are hoping to top thath thishi year.

There is a brand new scenic cross country route for participan­ts to get stuck into with three different distances to choose from: the 10K run will start at 10am, and the 5K and the shorter run/ walk will both start at 11am.

There will be three trophies on offer this year: largest team, most money raised by an individual and most recentre transplant participan­t.pa

The day’s en entertainm­ent will in include shows by local da dance groups, a display of impressive military an and vintage vehicles, as we well as other exciting act activities from 10am – 2pm 2pm. There will be a ran range of food, arts and cra craft stalls. As always, therether will be a grand raffleraff­l as well as a tombolatom stall.

Entry is £15 for adults and £10 for children and this includes a t-shirt, medal and refreshmen­ts.

All completed forms should be returned to the fundraisin­g office no later than Wednesday September 7.
