CCTV released over 2013 rape

-

DETECTIVES have launched a fresh appeal to find a man suspected of a rape that happened in Yiewsley in 2013.

The alleged attack happened on June 16 2013 when the 27-year-old victim was walking home at around 2.30am.

She said she was raped by a white man of stocky build in an alleyway that runs into Fairfield Road near the junction with High Street.

Metropolitan Police detectives released CCTV footage on Friday August 26 of a man leaving the alleyway they would like to speak to in connection with the alleged rape.

Detective Constable James Ashton from the Homicide and Major Crime Command (HMCC) said: “Following a review, including forensics of the original investigation by the HMCC we have obtained a full DNA profile of the suspect.

“Whilst three years have passed since the offence, we are very keen to identify and speak to the person seen in the CCTV or anyone who may have witnessed something that Saturday night who can help.

“It is possible there are people out there who the suspect has spoken to about the attack, if he has then it is not too late to come forward and talk to us.”

DC Ashton added that the DNA sample has been circulated by Interpol in an attempt to trace the offender.

Police added there is no evidence to suggest this attack is linked to any others.

The man in the CCTV is wearing a dark jacket, light coloured top and dark trousers.

After leaving the alleyway he turns into Fairfield Road and into the High Street where he is seen walking south towards West Drayton.

One minute after he leaves the alleyway, a car drives along High Street in the same direction the suspect was walking.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “The HMCC regularly carry out reviews of unsolved stranger rape cases in line with best practice and to ensure that all lines of enquiry are exploited, including appealing to the public.”
