Golf programme targets women

-

STOCKLEY Park is becoming the home of a new all-female coaching programme aimed at getting women out on the golf course.

Love.golf has been specially developed for women, with a unique approach focused on coaching while playing the game as a group, rather than simply hitting balls on a practice range.

According to PGA Golf professional Andrew Turner, love.golf is helping to transform the game’s outdated image and welcome a new generation of female golfers who may not have considered trying golf before.

Turner said: “The great thing about love. golf is that it provides an environment for women to discover, learn and improve skills.

“Customers frequently say they are surprised at their achievements and the sense of self-confidence and empowerment that comes with this.

“Love.golf is ideal for new golfers. All the equipment is provided, you can wear jeans and trainers and you don’t have to be a club member, or even have played before. It’s relaxed, welcoming and probably not at all what you think golf is like.”

Love.golf was launched in 2015 on the back of an academic study at the University of Birmingham looking at how golf is taught to women.

It also follows a nationwide survey that found more than 640,000 women said they would be ‘very interested’ in taking up golf.

The all-inclusive love.golf programme includes six weekly sessions with PGA professional Andrew Turner at Stockley Park Golf Club, with pricing information available online.

The group is welcome to meet socially and encouraged to play and practice together between coaching sessions.
