CAPITAL IDEA:

Stunning scenes of hidden London

-

ARENOWNED Fulham photographer has published his latest book of stunning images featuring images around the capital. Peter Dazeley’s London Uncovered is the follow-up to his impressive Unseen London book, which he released last year.

That book cast a unique eye on some of the capital’s best loved and lesser-known landmarks, many of which are not open to the public.

But his sequel features accessible locations, which means the viewer can visit the beautiful locations themselves after reading the book.

West London features heavily, Leighton House Museum in Kensington, Kew Gardens and Palace, Syon House in Brentford and the Shree Sanatan Hindu Mandir, in Wembley, all included.

Mr Dazeley said: “The first book was incredibly successful and made it to No 72 in the Amazon best sellers list.

“But people couldn’t see a lot of these places, they couldn’t get access to them.

“So I set on the idea it would be lovely to produce a book about bits of London you can see.” The book features 60 locations with each giving the reader details about how they can visit.

The photographer, who has also taken photos of The Krays’ artefacts, said: “The whole concept of the book is to encourage people to discover bits of London they probably wouldn’t know too much about.” Mr Dazeley, who has his studio in Parsons Green, said he learned a lot while shooting the book. One example was when he was photographing the wine merchants Berry Bros & Rudd. He said: “Right next to it is Pickering Place, which is the smallest square in London. It is also where the last Texan embassy was based, and where the last public duel in London took place.” With the publishing of the book, Mr Dazeley’s attention is very much on his next project, which is well underway. He said: “I’m five theatres off a book on London’s theatres that will be published in October next year.” London Uncovered is published by Frances Lincoln and available from Amazon.
