It’s cheers for Faers at their pre-Christmas gig

Hayes FM presenter Hughie Dixon reviews the live band scene

-

F you are looking for a frolicking fun few hours this festive Friday evening then five-piece Faers may fill that criteria.

These Hillingdon-based boys take to the stage at The Crown and Treaty pub on Oxford Road, Uxbridge at around 10.30pm on Friday with Pretty Visitors from Hayes in the support slot. This year has been a busy one for Faers, what with appearances on BBC Introducing Radio, Radio X and a live show at the Y Festival to name but a few highlights.

Also, their latest single Time has exceeded all their download expectations.

Faers’ music is bright and uplifting with psychedelic guitar sounds reminiscent of The Stone Roses, The Cure and The Maccabees.

Their bass and beats are refreshingly spacious, allowing the pure London Englishness from vocalist Steven to shine through uncluttered.

Pretty Visitors are a lively indie/ punk four piece who are heavily influenced by The Jam, The Clash, The Strokes, Jamie T and The Arctic Monkeys, from whom they abstract their name.

It is free entry to The Crown and Treaty before 10pm and just £5 after. The live music should be over by 1am and the DJ will keep you bouncing until 3am.

Be sure to tune into my interactive HayesFM radio show every Tuesday at 8pm to hear live and original performers, plus great tunes, chat and more local live music news. You can find HayesFM on 91.8fm in London or GLOBAL on www.hayesfm.org.uk

Merry Christmas everybody.
