Dog was put in shopping basket

-

RE: the branch of the Co-op in Manor Parade, Harlington, Middx.

On Tuesday at 12.30 I witnessed an incident where a middle aged women with a small yappy white dog placed said dog into one of the Co-op shopping baskets and carried same into the store. She then proceeded to purchase items of food. This is disgusting in that the dog could have shed hairs, tics, fleas, germs, bacteria, viruses, worm eggs, faeces, saliva, or worse into the basket to be used by the next unwitting customer for food.

The dog should not have been allowed into the shop anyway. Yet this one was carried into and around the shop in this basket.

I doubt whether the basket was identified by the staff and cleaned afterwards. In general supermarket baskets do tend to get very sticky, greasy and germ laden and are rarely cleaned - as reported on a recent BBC Watch Dog programme.
