TOWERING OPPORTUNITY IS ALMOST A LIQUID ASSET

But until 2004 Cromwell Tower was a water storage facility that was then decommissioned, sold at auction to the current owners and converted in 2016 into a home.
There’s plenty of its former role in evidence including a vertiginous central ironwork stairway, water depth gauges and exposed cement structure. The property’s name comes from the arrival in 1649 of men loyal to Oliver Cromwell, who were given the task of tearing down a castle belonging to a royalist in nearby Kenilworth.
The men used stone from the castle to build houses in the area and named a local road after Cromwell, on which the tower stands. It’s for sale at £1.5 million.
