The role: London Politics News Director

Who do we want? We’re looking for someone who lives and breathes local politics in the most exciting city in the world. Leading a team of local democracy reporters sited in newsy patches such as Westminste­r and Kensington and Chelsea, you’ll be able to direct our coverage of council meetings, community health councils and wherever your news nouse will take you. Stories will be put on the BBC wire and our London sites.

The roles: Digital Content Editors (Surrey)

Who do we want? Can you think like a reader? Do you know just the right way to tell a story to make it compelling? Are you good with words? Do you know your SEO from your SOS? SurreyLive is one of our most successful sites and the potential to make waves as it cements its place as an essential read for everyone who lives in Surrey is enormous. Led by Deanne Blaylock, SurreyLive is at the forefront of creative journalism.

Who do we want? Are you curious? Do you want to know who, what, where, when and, most importantl­y, why? Is your life ruled by social media? Do you reach for your phone first thing in the morning? Do you know what the zeitgeist is, what people are sharing, caring about? Are you able to take a complicate­d story and tell it in ways your clever friend will not only understand but engage with and want to read more about?

Who do we want? Do you dream in pictures? Can you think of ways to tell stories using video-only? Do you know who’s who on YouTube? Can you tell a NowThis video at 100 paces? Can you understand why DoDo videos are so compelling? Opportunit­y to be compelling: HIGH

The roles: Community Content Curators (SEACAM)

Who do we want? Are you organised and love chatting to people? Can you form relationsh­ips with groups, politician­s, sports clubs? Are you comfortabl­e with computers and happy to learn new things? We also have a couple of places for curators to join our October 14-month training course for the Diploma of Journalism which we are running with Reuters. This would then give you access to join our trainee reporter programme leading to our Certificat­e of Journalism qualificat­ion. Opportunit­y to be brilliant: HIGH

The role: Trends Writer (SEACAM)

Who are we looking for? Someone who knows what the local audience is searching and how to write stories that can be easily found and easily shared. You will be brilliant with words, a whizz at SEO and can meticulous­ly track data and respond to it quickly. Opportunit­y to be famously well-read: HIGH
