Looking for a loving home

-

Zeppelin

Say hello to our very handsome 10 year old Zeppelin who is looking for love and a comfy lap.

After being trapped in a garage for some weeks, Zeppelin was in a rather poor state when he came to us. With lots of love and TLC he has now fully recovered from his ordeal and is a happy and healthy cat.

He is a wonderfully relaxed gentleman who loves lounging around and being pampered. Being long haired, he will need regular grooming to help maintain his lovely coat.

Zeppelin is without doubt one of our most laid back cats who would prefer a fairly calm home environment. With his docile nature, he gets on well with other cats and would potentially be fine with other pets and calm children. Even though his playful days are behind him, Zeppelin offers so much love and affection and still has a lot of life left to live. Could you give him the chance to enjoy it to the full?

Tufty

Tufty is another of our mature cats in need of a loving retirement home. This lovely 10 year old tabby and white boy, came into our care following the sad passing of his owner and was initially very confused and nervous.

He is slowly coming out of his shell and with time and a little patience will make a loving and loyal companion. He would like a quiet home without other pets where he can enjoy a peaceful lifestyle. Tufty loves a stroll, so a nice garden where he can explore and just chill out would be perfect for him. He does live up to his name with his fur coat, so will need brushing regularly. If you could tick all the boxes on Tufty’s wishlist and give him a loving home for life, please get in touch.

■■Be tick aware

Especially at this time of year, ticks can be a real problem for dogs and to a lesser extent cats. Tick bites can carry diseases so it’s important to remove them straight away. To avoid squeezing the body or leaving the head in which increases the risk of infection, you’ll need to twist the tick off. Use a tick removal tool, which can be bought at pet shops or vets.

Your vet will be able to show you the best way to remove a tick. If you’re unsure how to remove a tick please speak to your vet first. Don’t try to burn them off or use lotion to suffocate, as this won’t stop the possibility of getting bacterial infections like Lyme disease. Ticks will bite and feed on your dog or cat for up to a few days, and drop off once they’ve had enough. During this time it’s possible the tick could give your pet a disease.

If your pet shows signs of being unwell after a bite consult your vet immediately. Stop ticks from biting by using a tick treatment that either kills or repels. Ask your vet for the best treatment. Never use dog tick medicine on cats or vice versa. Some dog tick treatments contain chemicals that are toxic to cats, and can even be fatal.

If you can offer a loving home to any of our animals, please call us on 01895 833417 or visit www.rspcahillingdonclinic.org.uk to apply online. Thank you as always for your support.
