‘Worst places to live in London’ come under fire

RESIDENTS LEAVE SCATHING COMMENTS ON ILIVEHERE WEBSITE

-

IS there anything worse than when someone speaks negatively about where you live?

Although sometimes they may have a point, it is hard hearing someone talk down on the place you call home.

However, some residents do not mind saying exactly how it is, with a handful of people actually seeming to hate the area in which they live.

The website ILiveHere gives residents a platform to share these views.

It shares some of the more cutting descriptions of towns and cities across the UK, which are written by locals themselves.

So we’ve pulled together a list of some of the places residents have claimed are among West London’s worst to live in.

Here’s what they had to say about Hammersmith and Fulham, Hayes, Hounslow, Knightsbridge, Northolt, Shepherds Bush and West Drayton.

■■Hammersmith and Fulham: ‘Prices of homes are beyond belief’

One resident said: “This is meant to be one of nicest, most expensive boroughs of London, but it seems if you’ve not been mugged by a local chav, then you will get mugged by the local estate agent, as prices to buy or let are beyond beggars belief.”

They added: “Why spend a million pounds on a three-bed terrace when you got a bunch of smack and crack addicts living next door.

“Then you got the big fat council estates littered across the borough where the real nitty gritty ‘yeah get me bruv’ take place.”

■■Hayes: ‘It’s full of scum’

One resident wrote: “Worked at GP Homestore in Pump Lane for a few years.

“Used to sell expensive furniture back in the 80s & early 90s. Had to close down when the scum moved in and the decent people got out while they could.”

Another added: “I stayed over at a Travel Lodge in the town centre and made the mistake of venturing out after dark. After seeing two fights and one scrote throwing bricks at moving traffic, all within five minutes of leaving the hotel, I changed my mind.” ■■Hounslow: ‘Bleak, dirty, knackered old dump’

A resident wrote: “Why is there so much rubbish everywhere in Hounslow? It seems to be common practice to dump items like fridges, beds, old rusty microwaves and stained mattresses on any available street corner or back alley.”

Another said: “To sum up in a few words – bleak, dirty, knackered old dump sitting on the end of one of the world’s busiest runways.

“To visit is a once in a lifetime experience.

“If you pick up a cab at the airport do not complain about what a dump Hounslow is, he probably lives there.”

■■Knightsbridge: ‘Home to a ‘serious infestation of chaviness’

How a resident from Knightsbridge described it: “This place used to be exciting, racy and, dare I say it, classy. Not any more, it is now the home of a serious infestation of chaviness that hides behind wads and wads of petro dollars.

“Boy racers in million pound cars make their best efforts to mow down any pedestrians attempting to cross the road outside that temple of bling Harrods.”

They added: “If you go into the bars of any of the supposedly upscale hotels and smart restaurants you will soon notice that nasty breed, the high class escort.”

■■Northolt: ‘Place needs to be fumigated’

A resident said: “Northolt has never been more than a large housing estate or a place for people to drive through on the A40 to be somewhere nice, but the people living there used to be decent enough.

“Now these people have infected the place with their anti-social idiocy to the point where it needs to be fumigated and then fumigated again, just to be sure.

“I feel nothing but contempt for these parasitic, stomach-churning, crisp-eating, drug-taking, endlesslyprocreating, fight-starting, life-negating threadworms in the gut of suburbia.”

■■Shepherds Bush: ‘S**t greets you on the floor’

One resident wrote: “The first thing that will great you on arrival to Shepherd’s Bush is a big pile of s**t on the floor.

“Whether it was left by a dog or a human is anyone’s guess but after living here for two years I can firmly say it’s probably the latter.”

Another said: “It tries so hard to be Notting Hill’s cool kid brother and Camden’s distant cousin but fails miserably on both accounts.

“In actual fact, Shepherd’s Bush is more like the uncle who made you sit on his lap when you didn’t want to.”

■■West Drayton: ‘It’s gone pear shaped’

On person said: “More coffee shops and fast food takeaways than you can shake a stick at. I dunno how any of them mange to make any money.

“Meanwhile in Harmondsworth (the posh end of West Drayton), things are rapidly going downhill. It’s all going pear shaped around here people.”
