Peter Cook’s former London pad is on the market
ASKING PRICE: £4.5 MILLION
ALONGSIDE partner Dudley Moore, Peter Cook became one of the best-known, best-loved figures of 60s British comedy.
The pair’s satirical sketches won them millions of fans on both sides of the Atlantic – they were even hosts on the first season of US hit show Saturday Night Live – and inspired generations of young comedians.
In their heyday, they collaborated on ideas in the garden of Peter Cook’s Hampstead Village home, where he lived from 1974 until his death in 1995.
The beautiful Gothic Grade II listed property, now on the market with an asking price of £4.5million, has had a striking modern revamp behind its distinctive Queen Anne façade.
Designed by architect Norman Evill, who worked with Sir Edwin Lutyens, the house has a superb 70’ landscaped rear garden, roof terrace and – a rarity for this part of London – designated parking.
On the ground floor, there’s an open plan luxury kitchen and dining area with views across the garden and a separate utility room. The first floor has a spacious reception room and bedroom suite, and there are two further bedroom suites on the second floor including a master bedroom suite with vaulted ceiling and dressing room. The top floor has the flexibility to be either a fourth bedroom or study and features a wall of glass with doors opening onto a 17ft roof terrace.
