QUEEN Poppy, right (voiced by Anna Kendrick) and survivalis­t best friend Branch (Justin Timberlake) greet another morning with a musical mash-up of Trolls Just Wanna Have Fun, Good Times by Chic and Groove Is In The Heart. Their glitter-covered reverie is shattered by a message from Queen Barb (Rachel Bloom), who intends to forcibly unite trollkind under the banner of hard rock.

Poppy and Branch embark on a time-sensitive mission to win the support of King Quincy (George Clinton) and Queen Essence (Mary J Blige) from the funk clan, Delta Dawn (Kelly Clarkson) from the country clan, Trollzart (Gustavo Dudamel) from the classical clan and King Trollex (Anthony Ramos) from the techno clan.

SONIC THE HEDGEHOG (PG)

BLUE hedgehog Sonic, right (voiced by Ben Schwartz) escapes from his world through a portal and lands in the leafy glades of Green Hills in Montana, where cop Tom Wachowski (James Marsden) upholds the law.

He is eyeing a move to San Francisco with veterinari­an wife Maddie (Tika Sumpter).

Their plans are put on hold when Sonic breaks into the couple’s home to escape military consultant Dr Robotnik (Jim Carrey).

Tom agrees to accompany the fugitive furball on a hare-brained odyssey to open a portal to a fungi-festooned planet, where Sonic will be safe from Robotnik and his weaponised drones.

ON NOVEMBER 1, 1986, the town of Monroevill­e, where Harper Lee wrote To Kill A Mockingbir­d, recoils from news of a violent crime. Part-time clerk Ronda Morrison, 18, has been strangled and shot dead at Jackson Cleaners.

A trial lasting a day and a half finds local man Walter McMillian (Jamie Foxx) guilty. Two years later, lawyer Bryan Stevenson (Michael B Jordan, pictured) takes up Walter’s case. He co-founds the Equal Justice Initiative with firebrand Eva Ansley (Brie Larson) and visits Holman Correction­al Facility, where Walter is awaiting execution. The lawyer tries to buoy his client’s spirits but Walter is aware of the slim chances of success against District Attorney Tommy Chapman (Rafe Spall).
