Help Barnado’s stay connected to London

-

CORONAVIRUS is the biggest crisis Barnardo’s has faced in its 154-long history.

With our charity shops closed and monthly income down by a third many of our project workers are no longer able to provide faceto-face services to our children, young people and families across London. We desperately need your support which is why we have launched an emergency appeal.

We are trying to move our support services online where possible, but a barrier to this is a lack of digital capability, sometimes at our services, and often with our young people and families.

Without access to phones or tablets, children and young people won’t be able to speak to or see their project workers, who are often a great source of comfort and routine – and are needed during this crisis more than ever.

By supporting the Barnardo’s Coronavirus Crisis Appeal you can help ensure that we can remain connected to the most vulnerable children and young people in London and across the UK.

Technology has moved on considerably since the days of our founder Thomas Barnardo. We no longer send messages via telegram or have to wait days for important correspondence to be received. But unless we increase our digital capacity we risk losing contact with some of the most vulnerable children and families in society.

Coronavirus isn’t just pushing the vulnerable children and families we support to the edge. It’s also shutting down valuable sources of income for us. London has been at the epicentre of the coronavirus outbreak and with 37 per cent of all children in the capital living in poverty, we’re needed more than ever.

But the truth is without your help we may not have funds to give the support that’s needed. So please donate whatever you can today and help us continue to be there for children and families in London.

You can donate via barnardos.org. uk/coronavirus-crisis-appeal or by sending a cheque payable to Barnardo’s Income processing - Crisis Appeal, Barnardo’s, Tanners Lane, Barkingside, Essex IG6 1QG Thank you. Lynn Gradwell
