LONDON North West Healthcare Trust (LNWH) has announced that they have seen more than 700 coronavirus patients successfully recover.

The trust, which covers Northwick Park, St Mark’s, Central Middlesex and Ealing Hospital has seen over 350 patients die from the virus. Northwick Park stands as the one of the hardest hit hospitals in Britain, as it declared a ‘critical incident’ last

NORTHWICK Park and Ealing hospitals have seen a “massive decline of cases in recent weeks”, a leading consultant has said.

Dr Rachel Tennant, from the London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust (LNWH), which manages the hospitals, said the service had entered a “lull phase” in coronavirus cases after they believe they reached the peak in early April.

The progress comes as trust boss Chris Bown told the Local Democracy Reporting Service last week that there were early signs of a plateau month due to Covid-19.

But the good news that 707 patients under the care of the hospitals have successfully recovered from the deadly virus the trust announced Thursday.

Dr Martin Kuper, medical director of LNWH said in response to the trust’s coronavirus response: “NHS staff are working round the clock to respond to the biggest global health threat in a generation, while also ensuring that people can still access vital services in as safe a way as possible for both individuals and staff. in patients being treated for the deadly virus – and LNWH revealed on Thursday April 23 that more than 700 patients have successfully recovered from the virus.

According to NHS England data, more than 400 people have died from Covid-19 at the North West London hospital group.

Speaking in a webinar hosted by the Young Harrow Foundation, Dr Tennant said the majority of cases seen at the hospitals recover in seven to eight days, while one in five patients develop the life-threatening

“So while it remains important that the public support staff by staying safe and using the NHS wisely, they should be assured that local services are ready and able to treat all those who need it.”

The trust’s medical director, Martin Kuper, previously said it was “inevitable” for its hospitals to experience a large number of coronavirus cases. Factors such as Northwick Park hospital being one of the first designated treatment centres, one of London’s busiest A&E departments, and the serving area consisting of a condition named Covid-19 pneumonitis.

At the beginning of March she revealed the hospital trust was experiencing the number of coronavirus cases doubling every two days, rather than every five days as predicted.

The doctor said while the trust has entered a quiet phase, “we are all ready for more”, urging: “Social distancing is working. Don’t get bored, please stick with it. It’s so important as it’s the way we’re going to beat it.” large elderly population with underlying health conditions, were highlighted for the large demand.

Dr Harmandeep Singh, a doctor at Ealing Hospital working on the coronavirus ward, however said that despite the headline figures, the hospital is seeing a good success in getting people discharged.

Earlier this month, NHS workers at Northwick Park began to receive the correct personal protective equipment (PPE), vital in protecting key workers from Covid-19.

On preparing for a possible end to the lockdown next month, she added: “We’re learning the lessons particularly badly affected, Harrow West MP Gareth Thomas said it was related to the relative number of older people in the area, as well as those with type 2 diabetes, which appears to be a risk factor for a severe Covid-19 infection.

“I am trying to hold back from political point scoring,” he said, adding “we will have to have a public enquiry” into the handling of the coronavirus pandemic by the government as a debate rages over whether the response to the virus has been adequate. of what we have done well so far and preparing for whatever next may come.”
