Woman appears at the Old Bailey over murder of son, 10

CAUSE OF DEATH WAS RESTRICTION OF THE AIRWAYS

-

A 10-year-old disabled boy allegedly killed by his mum at their Acton home died from restriction of his airways, a court has been told.

The cause of Dylan Freeman’s death was revealed as the boy’s mother, Olga Freeman, appeared at the Old Bailey on Wednesday August 19.

Freeman, a Russian national, is charged with murdering Dylan at their home in Cumberland Park, Acton.

The 40-year-old spoke only to confirm her name and date of birth when she appeared in the dock at the Old Bailey.

Prosecutor Joel Smith said a postmortem examination gave the cause of Dylan’s death as restriction of the airways.

The court heard that the youngster was disabled and required 24-hour care.

Freeman attended a west London police station and spoke with officers at about 2.30am on Sunday August 16. A short time later, officers and London Ambulance Service paramedics went to the house in Cumberland Park and discovered Dylan’s body.

Dylan’s father, celebrity photographer Dean Freeman, who was in Spain when his ex-wife allegedly killed their son, paid tribute to him earlier this week.

Mr Freeman, whose work includes campaigns with Bollywood star Deepika Padukone and Hollywood actor Bradley Cooper, said in a statement on Monday: “Dylan was a beautiful, bright, inquisitive and artistic child who loved to travel, visit art galleries and swim.

“We travelled extensively over the years together, spending such memorable time in places including Brazil, France and Spain.

“I can’t begin to comprehend his loss.”

His Honour Judge Mark Lucraft QC remanded Freeman, who wore a dark sweatshirt and had her hair tied back during the short hearing, in custody to appear at a plea and trial preparation hearing at the Old Bailey, in London, on Wednesday November 4.
