Bosh! and that’s your vegan dinner sorted
All hail the vegan kings. MARION McMULLEN finds out why Bosh! mates Henry Firth and Ian Theasby are spending less time in the kitchen
HENRY FIRTH and Ian Theasby kept their eye on the clock when testing the recipes for their new cookbook Speedy BOSH! They can guarantee that every recipe can be cooked in 30 minutes... with some extra chilling time allowed for some the dishes.
“It was originally going to be 20 minutes,” admits Ian, “which seemed like a long time, but it goes quite quickly and adds pressure, so we decided to take a bit more time to get the job done in 30 minutes.”
Ian and Henry are the UK’s bestselling vegan authors, have fronted their own ITV show Living On The Veg and are hitting a staggering three billion views online.
The guys have known each other from schooldays and have had three bestsellers and new book Speedy BOSH! offers more than 100 simple to cook recipes that prove that tasty vegan cooking does not have to be a headache.
“We both used to be big meat eaters,” says Henry, “but now if we fancy something we find out how to make a plant based alternative.”
He laughs: “We hope the new book will sell like hot cakes... or vegan cakes.”
The guys also have a range of BOSH! products in most UK supermarkets.
Ian says their recipes are for everyone from full-time vegans to people who want to add plant-based meals to their diet a few times a week.
“Five years ago if you walked into a supermarket looking for a vegan sandwich you would be lucky to find a falafel wrap,” says Ian.
“Now there are whole sections of vegan stuff available. You couldn’t ask for more.”
