A NORTHOLT drug dealer was nabbed by police when he was caught in a car outside a building on Ealing Road – with cannabis, £457 in cash and messages on his phone offering to supply cocaine.

Mahamad Mahamud was collared as part of patrols on August 25 put together by the Safer Neighbourhood Teams from Northolt Mandeville and Greenford Broadway after local residents raised concerns about drug dealing.

The team was patrolling Ealing Road and its attention was drawn to 20-year-old Mahamud, of Hari

Close, Northolt, seated in a car outside a non-residential property.

It was when Mahamud was detained and searched under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act that they found the cannabis and cash as well as the incriminating messages on his phone.

He was promptly arrested for being concerned in the supply of cocaine and possession of cannabis.

On his arrival at a custody suite, a further search revealed four wraps of cocaine and 36 bags of cannabis hidden in Mahamud’s trousers, resulting in his further arrest for possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs.

Officers went to his home address and found a second quantity of money as well as drugs paraphernalia in his bedroom.

In interview he replied “no comment” to all questions, but the West Area Drugs Focus Desk helped further the investigation, resulting in charges of possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs and possession of criminal property.

Mahamud was remanded to appear at Isleworth Crown Court on September 24 while the Drugs Focus Desk continued to work on the case by examining the phone and using a drugs expert witness statement which valued the drugs at approximately £460.

At court Mahamud pleaded guilty and was found to have breached a suspended sentence for possession with intent to supply class A drugs. He was sentenced to 44 months in prison.

PC James Hallam, of Northolt Mandiville SNT, said: “The team were made aware of concerns by the local residents in the area and increased patrols to locate those responsible.

“This arrest and sentence shows that dealing drugs on our ward will not be tolerated and we will continue to actively seek those intent on bringing drugs into the West Area.”
