Infection rates in Hillingdon

- Name and address supplied

THE Hayes Town Partnership newsletter today reports that:

“Hillingdon now has the worst coronavirus infection rates out of 32 London Boroughs. After weeks of being second or third in the league table the latest figures show that it has reached number one above Ealing, Harrow and Hounslow.

The worst affected area is reported to be in the south of the Borough which includes Hayes. The numbers are coming down but this news reinforces the need for people to observe the rules on staying at home, where possible, and sticking with social distancing, facecovering and hand-washing rules.”

Visiting Hayes for essential food it is evident that the pandemic is deemed over.

Few wear masks on buses or on the street. There are no checks on buses –drivers ignore those not wearing masks. Its the same at the Station – staff ignore those without masks.

Network Rail staff and contractors fail to wear masks in Tescos Express. Where are the Met and BTP police haven’t seen a copper on the streets, buses or trains this year?

In Hayes town centre Iceland continues to fail to clean its filthy baskets, and the staff have masks below the nose. The new fish shop staff do not wear masks properly. Lidl security do not wear masks properly. The staff in the halal butchers next to Natwest do not wear masks. The new KFC is packed with couriers not wearing masks. Despite lockdown the mosque near Wilcos is packed every Friday and on other days – no social distancing in there.

Non-essential shops still actively open include Cash Converters (the pawn brokers) near the Botwell Community Centre. And all the little ‘pound shops’ and the Pound Shop / Pepco are well open selling everything non-essential.

Then there are the nurses and staff from Hillingdon Hospital - why are the wearing uniforms and work clothes on public transport?

And there are reports of the ex-boat-people being housed in Heathrow hotels visiting West Drayton to do shopping without masks or social distancing.

There’s Heathrow where people from ‘red’ and ‘green’ countries mix and mingle in Immigration for hours causing cross-infections. Then many travel to local hotels.

Until the communities in the area, and the authorities (Council, Met. Police, BTP, Heathrow Immigration), all understand that the pandemic is NOT over Hillingdon will continue to have a high infection and death rate.
